La La L.A. Landscaping
When you live in LA, Orange County, or anywhere in SoCal, the landscape world is your oyster (an appropriate saying given our proximity to the beach). Even snow and skiing are only about an hour away! And that level of variety also carries over to your home’s landscaping.
The hardest thing about designing your yard isn’t figuring out what will work but narrowing down all the things that will find the one that works best for you! M1 can’t necessarily make your property choices for you, but we can lay them out in front of you, design, install and maintain them once you’ve decided.
Design
Every good yard starts with a plan. You can mow and trim what you’ve got, but if you didn’t start with something special, that will stay the same. Even if you love what you have, that doesn’t mean you don’t want to make some changes.
We love to talk with our clients about what they desire from their yards. Of course, form follows function, so when we understand the type of life you want to live, that’s the first step.
Then we’ll talk to you about colors, textures, vertical and horizontal space, and many factors you’ve probably never thought of before! Beyond that, we know what will work where. So, even though Southern California is a wonderfully hospitable place to grow nearly everything you’d like, we still need to consider how everything will work together.
How tall will that tree get, and how will it affect those full-sun perennials you planted? Will this plant produce too much of a given chemical to make to allow that one to thrive? Every detail matters, and each affects the big picture.
Installation
As important as a plan is, it’s irrelevant without the means to accomplish it! Just ask everyone with a spec script! Luckily, we’re not just dreamers; we’re also doers, and what we do is make your landscaping dreams come true.
Our landscaping installation includes all your yard’s living elements, hardscaping, and even irrigation to keep everything alive.
Living
The meat of your landscape will be the plants (with apologies to vegetarians). Your lawn, flower beds, and trees all contribute to your landscape’s colors, height, and textures. Once you’ve decided what you want, we can source and install it.
Manufactured
M1 deals with more than just living landscapes. We also build custom hardscape outdoor living spaces. Depending on how you would like to use your yard, these can include patios, walkways, retaining walls, and fire pits.
Irrigation
They say it never rains in Southern California. Given that’s not true, if you count on precipitation for your water supply here, you and your plants absolutely will go thirsty. Hand watering by eye is an option, but it’s not your best.
Irrigation takes the guesswork out of watering and also allows you the convenience of watering on a timer without your direct participation. Best of all? Irrigation saves both water and money by not over-watering, creating an option that’s greener in more ways than one.
Maintenance
Design and installation are super fun, but if you don’t keep up with your new landscaping, soon it won’t look anything like how it did upon installation. Maintenance is key to a gorgeous yard. There are many elements to landscape maintenance which we’ll discuss below.
Lawn Care
When people read about lawn care, they usually think about mowing, but lawn care includes much more than that. Lawn maintenance, including mowing, also includes edging and blowouts. But some of the most important lawn care elements are seasonal tasks like fertilizing, aeration, and overseeding.
Finally, all those pretty plants will shed a lot of debris. Eventually, that debris accumulates and can cause your plants health issues in addition to being unsightly. Seasonal cleanup at least once a year prevents this issue from escalating.
Tree Care
Your trees need help to stay healthy. In addition to watering, they need occasional fertilizer and upkeep. Did you know that trimming isn’t just better aesthetically and improves tree health?
Mulching
Mulch is your all-in-one landscaping tool. Not only does it look dynamite, but it also insulates and creates a weed barrier. In addition, when natural mulch breaks down, it also fertilizes your gardens.
Landscaping is the Whole Picture
Your landscape is like a mosaic made of many beautiful parts. Like a mosaic, each of those parts must blend seamlessly to create the whole picture while fitting perfectly. That kind of coordination is only possible with experience.
M1 has the experience and expertise to make your landscaping into the picture you’ve imagined.
